Will the videos show me how to keep my baby safe when I bath her?

Yes, keeping your baby safe and creating an environment where they feel nurtured and enjoy the experience is at the heart of each video.

We don't have a big bath. Do the videos include small bath or shower information?

The Bubbly Bub 0 - 3 month Video Library includes shower time and bathing baby in a small tub.

The Bubbly Bub 3 - 6 month Video Library includes shower time and 'Bubbly Bub goes to the pool' - to introduce you to taking your baby swimming in a pool.

At what age can we take our baby for a swim in a pool?

Correct water quality and a minimum water temperature of 32°C are essential when considering whether or not to take your baby swimming in a pool.

Some countries and some public pools have guidelines with regard to the youngest age for swimming so check those wherever you are.

Medical practitioner guidance regarding babies swimming in public pools varies from country to country so check with your medical practitioner.

If you have access to a private pool - no matter the size - the highest standard of water quality is essential and a minimum water temperature of 32°C.

Isn't she too young to put into a big bath?

Your Bubbly Bub can be introduced to the big bath soon after she is born. The only exception is when your medical practitioner advises against it for medical reasons specific to your baby.

She is easy to hold onto in our small baby bath. How will I hold her in the big bath?

We have lots of great tips and advice in the videos about what you can do to make it safer and easier to hold onto your baby in the bath and in the shower.

What benefit is there in bathing her in a big bath?

A big bath can contain more water which makes the water deeper. Deeper water provides opportunities for her to float when she lies down on her front and when she lies down on her back.

Immersion in deeper water at home is a gentle introduction to what she will experience when you take her swimming in a pool. If she has experienced this in her bath she is more likely to enjoy the experience at the pool.

She is very slippery when she is in the baby bath so I am worried about putting her in the big bath or taking her in the shower with me in case I drop her.

Can babies float?

Yes, with your gentle support so their mouth and face stay above the water surface. Each Bubbly Bub Video Library includes bathing baby in deep water to show you how to support her when she lies on her front and when she lies on her back.

Floating in deeper water at home is a gentle introduction to what she will experience when you take her to swim in a pool. If she has experienced this in her bath she is more likely to enjoy the experience at the pool.

Our baby hates bath time. What strategies have your videos got that will change that?

What time of the day is it best to bath baby?

Bath or shower your baby when:

  • he is not tired or when a normal sleep time is due
  • he has been fed or is not hungry. If you are in the bath you can breastfeed him
  • he is well or reduce the time if he is unwell but happy to be bathed
  • he needs to be washed
  • he doesn’t need to be washed

I have a real phobia of water - especially water over my face - but I don't want to pass that on to our baby. Do the videos include how not to pass this on?

Yes, we are sure that by following the guidance in each Bubbly Bub Video Library your baby will love their time in the water and be happy to have water showered over their head and face.

Is it OK to put my baby's ears in the water?

For most babies submerging their ears into water is safe. However, if you have any doubts about doing this please check with your medical practitioner before doing so.

My Doctor says I must not let water go in to my baby's ears. Do the videos include things to do that will keep her ears dry?

Yes, there are activities throughout the videos that allow you to create a safe happy bath time or shower time while keeping baby's ears dry.
